Anyone can see the loving relationship between Janis and Sam. This was during the time of Janis’ interim band, Kozmic Blues Band.  Sam was a founding member of her first band Big Brother and the Holding Company; he was the only member to join Janis in this new group.  They were together since the early days in San Francisco.
