CHRISSI POLAND
Read about Chrissi Poland on Wikipedia:
Originally from a small town in southern Massachusetts, Chrissi Poland is a true soul singer, writer, and instrumentalist. Combining the sounds of blues, roots, jazz, and soul, she channels a sound that is all her own, yet influenced by the greats. Now a resident of NYC, Chrissi performs her music regularly at venues including the Living Room, The Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, and The Blue Note. She has performed live and toured with Stax legend Sam Moore, in the US, Canada, and Japan. Chrissi can also be heard on rock artist Moby’s latest release, “Last Night”. Favorite performance credits include a win at the Apollo Theater’s Amateur Night in Harlem, performances with Sting, and a guest performance with The Brian Blade Fellowship.Every now and then a voice comes along that is so powerful, so transfixing, it will silence the room and vibrate through your body in a way that lets you know you are witnessing something special. This is what happens when Chrissi Poland takes the stage. She has been touted as "equal parts Aretha Franklin and Carole King, with a touch of Prince". Stax Records soul legend Sam Moore has exclaimed of Chrissi, "Now this is a girl you gotta hear!". Stacey Anderson of the New York Times has simply said of Ms. Poland: "Sheer ferocity."
In recent years the songs of Chrissi Poland have appeared on the HBO, ABC and NBC and Bravo networks, and most recently her song "Possible" from the album Reckless Ones was chosen for a Bare Minerals commercial campaign in the U.K. A multi-instrumentalist, Chrissi has toured and performed with an array of artists and icons including Lady Gaga, Bette Midler, Nile Rodgers, Marc Cohn, Mavis Staples, Macy Gray, Sting, Moby, Smokey Robinson and Kenny Loggins. Chrissi has recently released her fourth studio album entitled Waking Hour and has a new EP in the works for 2018.
In a recent review, John Barry of The Poughkeepsie Journal writes: “She crafts original tunes that harness soul; rhythm and blues; and rock. And she wraps it all up in reflective lyrics that give the music thrust and momentum, without sacrificing any tenderness.”
